Job brief

We are looking for a Category Manager to manage our spirit & liqueur products for our company. You will be responsible for the pricing and overall promotion of the category to maximize both on & off trade appeal. Relationships with suppliers and product range management will also be part of your duties.

An excellent category manager must have extensive experience in understanding industry needs and the F&B environment. You must have a commercial mindset and full comprehension of marketing and sales principles. Exceptional communication skills are also key for this position.

The goal is to increase sales and profitability of business to drive sustainable growth.

Responsibilities

  • Analyse data or insights to determine industry and consumer trends
  • Devise long-term development strategies for product categories
  • Develop relationships with venues to achieve better pricing and quality of services
  • Assist clients to develop programmes and lists that promote our products
  • Train clients in the correct use of our products and train their staff where required
  • Place appropriate orders to ensure product availability that meets demands
  • Liaise with marketing teams to determine competitive pricing and promotional activities of a product category
  • Collaborate with suppliers and expand product categories as required
  • Make forecasts for product demand to ensure the sustainability of inventory
  • Assume responsibility of budget development and revenue for category

Requirements

  • Proven experience as category manager or similar role like bar or restaurant manager
  • Understanding of data analysis and forecasting methods
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • An analytical mind with a strategic ability
  • Excellent communication and people skills
  • Proficiency in English is a minimum requirement
  • Market knowledge and a large network
  • Communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to build rapport
  • Time management and planning skills

Performance Measures:

  • Consistent achievement of KPI’s, quotas and GP Targets
  • Reporting and internal systems must be kept up to date
  • Ability to monitor and adhere to agreed budgets
  • It is of the utmost importance that the overall reputation of the company is upheld always and failure to do this would be considered during any job appraisal.

Remuneration

  • This is a fixed monthly salary position
  • Quarterly bonus on achievement of targets and quotas
  • Other incentive bonuses at the discretion of management
